Speaking at the 9th PLA World Congress 2026

2026.05.22

Koji Sakamoto, CEO of Bioworks Corporation, will speak at the 9th PLA World Congress 2026, to be held in Munich, Germany, from June 2 (Tue) to June 3 (Wed), 2026.

The PLA World Congress is one of the world’s leading international conferences dedicated to PLA (polylactic acid), organized by Renewable Carbon Plastics (bioplastics MAGAZINE).

PLA is regarded as one of the most important bioplastics in the market and is attracting attention as a material made almost entirely from renewable resources. In addition to packaging applications, PLA is increasingly being used across a wide range of fields, including textiles and nonwovens, automotive, and home appliances.

Furthermore, blending PLA with other bioplastics or natural fibers has expanded its potential applications even further.

Now in its ninth edition, the conference will bring together experts from around the world in the fields of bioplastics, materials, textiles, manufacturing, and recycling to discuss market opportunities, technical challenges, and the future potential of PLA. The event will provide a platform for sharing insights into the possibilities, limitations, and future outlook of PLA across various applications.

Through its plant-based next-generation synthetic fiber “PlaX,” Bioworks aims to realize a sustainable textile industry that is less dependent on petroleum-derived materials. During the presentation, Bioworks will share insights into the potential of PLA applications in the textile sector and its efforts toward the social implementation of PlaX.
