Hotta Marusho Releases PlaX Knit Yarn Color Book

2025.03.03

Hotta-marusho has released the first-ever color book for knit yarn made with polylactic acid (PLA) in Japan.

With this release, PlaX knit yarn can now be handled more quickly, with shorter lead times and small lot sizes, making it easier to meet sample creation requests.

We spoke with Mr. Tojima, Leader of the Sales Department at the Material Division of Hotta-Marusho, about the decision to adopt PlaX.

“While handling various functional materials, we were eager to challenge ourselves with new raw materials and approaches.
As the demand for environmentally friendly materials grew among our customers, we turned our attention to PlaX, which can contribute to reducing environmental impact.
PlaX also pairs well with cotton yarns, and we found that its texture and feel can be proposed in line with existing items.
This was the deciding factor in adopting it.
Going forward, we plan to focus on expanding overseas, and as the first step, we worked on creating the PlaX knit yarn color book. Additionally, we will continue to develop and expand new yarn varieties.”
